Rete Sicula

Rete Sicula ( RS ; German Sicilian network ) is the historical abbreviation for the railway network in Sicily operated by the Italian Società per le Strade Ferrate della Sicilia . According to the yearbook of the Ministry of Agriculture, Industry and Trade, the Rete Sicula covered a route network of 1,093 kilometers in 1896.

The Rete Sicula emerged in 1885 from the Strade Ferrate Vittorio Emanuele and was established in 1905 by the statutory decree together with the rail networks Rete Mediterranea and Rete Adriatica in the Ferrovie dello Stato transferred.
