Reto Müller (table tennis player)

Reto Müller (born March 29, 1974 ) is a Swiss table tennis player and trainer. He played in Switzerland, Germany and France, won the Swiss Cup in 1998 and won numerous singles and doubles titles at national tournaments.

Career as a player

Müller played at TTC Olten from 1986 to 1992 and rose from the 4th division to the 1st division during this time. In 1993 he moved to TTC Wettstein Basel , where he played in the NLC and NLB. In the 1996/97 and 1997/98 seasons he played with Young Stars Zurich in the NLB and became the Swiss Cup winner in 1998. Müller then played for one season at TTC Münsingen in the highest Swiss league, the NLA, before moving to Germany in the Baden League for ESV Weil am Rhein for the 1999/2000 season. The next stop in 2000/2001 was the TT St. Louis in France (NL2). He then played again at TTC Wettstein Basel in the NLB, where he seriously injured his back in the 2003/2004 season. After a three-year injury hiatus, he recovered through biokinematic exercises and returned to St. Louis from 2006 to 2011. From 2011 to 2016 he played at TTC Schöftland in the Swiss NLC. After a 3-year break from competition, he made a comeback in the NLB at the TTC Pratteln in 2019.

In 1991, 1992 and 1993, Reto Müller and Christian Pinker became vice Swiss champion in junior doubles U21 and in 1994, 1996, 1999, 2001 and 2002, Swiss team champion in company sports, and in 1994 Swiss champion in doubles. At the European company sports championships in 1997, 1999, 2001 and 2003, he and the team from Smily Future reached positions between 3rd and 5th. After a break of almost 10 years in company sports, he was with Senn 3 times as a Swiss team in 2013, 2014 and 2015 - Vice-champion and was 3 × cup finalist, including 2015 cup winner. In 2017 he was again Swiss team runner-up and was once again in the cup final. In 2018, 2019 he became Vice Swiss Champion.

Career as a coach

At the age of 18, he trained as a coach parallel to top-class sport. From 1996 to 1997 he was regional trainer for schoolchildren / youth / juniors in Aarau. In 2002 he trained as a Y + S expert in table tennis and in 2011 as a Y + S kids expert. In 2017/18 he trained as a sports mentor. His first engagement as a trainer was from 1992 to 1996 at TTC Olten. From 2003 to 2006 he was also the individual fitness trainer for swiss table tennis. In 2003 he acquired the federal certificate as a fitness instructor, three years later the federal certificate as a professional sports trainer and in the same year became a Swiss Olympic fitness trainer . Finally, in 2008, he was recognized as a personal trainer SPTV. From 2008 to 2012 he was a trainer at TTC Zofingen . From 2002 to 2010 he was the personal trainer of the multiple Swiss team champion and cup winner Marc Altermatt . 2017-2018 he was head of fitness and conditioning training at the aarau-WEST tennis school in Oberentfelden (swiss tennis partner academy) and looked after regional and national team players in the junior division as well as private individuals. Since 2019 he has been looking after regional and national team players at NRG Tennis in Zofingen. In his self-employment as a personal and fitness trainer, Reto Müller currently looks after various athletes in various sports as well as private individuals. He also gives various workshops and training courses for Y + S, associations, physiotherapy and companies.

Private

Müller is married and sport is still his great passion today. His hobbies include table tennis, windsurfing, skiing, tennis, swimming, tandem driving, hiking, jogging, strength and coordination training, reading, writing, family, friends.
