Rescue Medal (Bavaria)

The rescue medal was donated on February 27, 1889 by Prince Regent Luitpold of Bavaria to recognize courageous and self-sacrificing rescue of human life and could be awarded to everyone.

Appearance

The front of the silver medal shows the bust of the donor, turned to the left, in a general's uniform with the inscription LUITPOLD PRINZ-REGENT VON BAYERN . On the back, in the middle, surrounded by an oak wreath , the inscription FOR RESCUE can be seen.

Carrying method

The ribbon is dark blue with a jagged white border with three light blue stripes. The award was worn on the left side of the chest.

Awards

It was awarded in the Free State of Bavaria after the end of the monarchy on November 8, 1918, until the end of 1931. On December 14, 1931, the Bavarian state government established a new foundation. This lasted until May 1, 1934.

On the front, surrounded by a laurel wreath, the inscription FOR RESCUE FROM DANGER OF LIFE can be seen. The Bavarian state coat of arms is on the back.
