Retz lake

The Retzer See is a drained lake southeast of the city of Retz , Lower Austria .

location

The former Retzer See corresponds to the vineyard Im See , in which the approx. 20 hectare water surface was located. The lowland is drained by the Seegraben .

history

The banks of the Retzer See were already settled in the Neolithic , as numerous finds prove. The lake was drained in the 19th century and has been used for agriculture since then.

Recently there have been considerations to refill the lake with water.
