Revenant Records is an independent American record label that focuses in particular on jazz , country and blues music . The company was founded in Austin, Texas in 1996 by John Fahey and Dean Blackwood.

Revenant Records specializes in reissue editions primarily of early American music, but also works by Charlie Feathers , The Stanley Brothers and Jenks Carman . Avant-garde artists such as Derek Bailey , Cecil Taylor , Captain Beefheart and Jim O'Rourke have also been published there.

The publication of the complete edition of Charley Patton's work together with an extensive apparatus in October 2001 caused a sensation ; This edition of Screamin 'and Hollerin' the Blues: The Worlds of Charley Patton , released in a box with seven CDs, received three Grammy Awards in 2003 . In 2004 the label released the Holy Ghost: Rare & Unissued Recordings (1962-70) collection with nine CDS of previously unreleased or rare recordings with free jazz pioneer Albert Ayler . In 2013 and 2014 the label portrait The Rise and Fall of Paramount Records 1917-1927 was published there.
