A reversal , also called reversal (derived from the Latin term litterae reversales ), is a written promise of an obligation . The term is also used for the reply to a document and for contractual obligations between two states .

In particular, Reverse are used as written declarations to cancel a certain obligation or revocation of a document and in customs law (see declaration of obligation (customs law) ).
