Reykjavik is a village in Manitoba , Canada . The small town is located on a peninsula on Lake Manitoba and is around 180 km northwest of the provincial capital Winnipeg . It belongs to the administrative unit Alonsa with 1641 inhabitants.

The village was founded in 1883 by the Icelandic farmers Gunnlaugur "Gódi" Úlfsson and Orn "Eagle" Arnaldsson. They escaped from an Icelandic prison after being arrested for a murder. They settled in Manitoba with their families and were friends with Stephan G. Stephansson .
