The great peat bog nature reserve ( Rezerwat przyrody Warnie Bagno in Polish ), created by ordinance No. 21/2005 of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship , is located in the district of Koszalin ( Powiat Koszalin ), 1.5 km north of Warnin ( Warnino ) and 2.5 km south-west from Varchmin ( Wierzchomin ).

The nature reserve covers an area of ​​520.21  hectares . In the north of the nature reserve there is a common border to the nature reserve Varchminer Moor ( Rezerwat Wierzchomińskie Bagno ), which is around the Black Lake ( Czerńsko ), on a section about one kilometer long .

East of the Great Peat Bog, no longer part of the nature reserve, lies the Oberholz with the Buchberg ( Bukowa ), the Kuhberg ( Karwinka ), and the Fürstentafel ( Warni Las ). Further east, beyond the chedhlo, is the heather wood.

fauna and Flora

The aim of the protection is to preserve the raised bogs of the Baltic Sea and to regenerate peat bogs and their ecosystems from swamp and damp forests with the habitats of the marshes of the Bell Heath ( Erica tetralix ).
