Rheinisches Fischerfest (2014)

The Rheinische Fischer Fixed part with up to 250,000 visitors to the largest folk festivals in southern Hesse. It takes place every year around the first weekend in August in Gernsheim am Rhein. The approximately 33,000 m² fairground is open for five days; beforehand there is a preliminary program with music events and various sports competitions. The festival was founded in 1949 as a gesture of reconciliation between sport and professional anglers. The highlights include the two fireworks and the traditional jousting .
