Rheumatoid tea

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As Rheumatee be Medicinal referred to in partially different compositions for supportive treatment of rheumatic complaints. The main component is usually the bark of the white willow or sal willow , which can be used to relieve mild joint pain. Its ingredient salicin, a chemical precursor of acetylsalicylic acid, has been known for its anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and analgesic effects since ancient times. The application is traditionally justified. Plants that are also traditionally used are nettles , African devil's claw and meadowsweet .

The term rheumatism is popularly used as a collective term for a large number of different chronic diseases of the musculoskeletal system , the correct medical generic term is "diseases of the rheumatic type" . Rheumatoid tea cannot have a specific effect on the respective disease, but at best provide some relief through its pain-relieving component. However, both the salicin content and the transfer of the active ingredient into the hot beverage are inconsistent, so that the effectiveness cannot be predicted in individual cases. Side effects of salicin (gastrointestinal complaints up to duodenal ulcers etc.) - depending on the amount administered - are to be expected. It cannot be ruled out that high doses of the active metabolite salicylic acid, like other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, inhibit blood coagulation, which must be taken into account when using willow bark tea.
