Rhossili, Gower

Rhossili ( Welsh Rhosili ) is a village at the southwest end of the Welsh Gower Peninsula in Great Britain; since 1970 Rhossili is run as a district of Swansea . The name Rhossili is believed to be based on a combination of the Welsh words rhos , which means bog and heli , which means salt water. In ancient scripts one finds the spelling Rose-hilly , which speaks for the theory mentioned above. The place as such has only a little over a hundred inhabitants and is characterized by agriculture. However, as there are three popular tourist attractions on Gower right next to Rhossili, namely Worm's Head , Rhossili Down with The Beacon and the beach on Rhossili Bay , Rhossili is often associated with these terms. Because of these attractions, Rhossili is very popular, especially in summer.

The National Trust for Gower office with a shop and café is located in the central car park in Rhossili . There you can get free hiking suggestions as well as further information about Rhossili and Gower.
