Ricardo José Menéndez Prieto

Ricardo José Menéndez Prieto (born December 7, 1969 in Caracas ) is a Venezuelan politician and has been the Minister for Planning in the Venezuelan government under President Nicolás Maduro since June 17, 2019 .

Personal and education

He is currently a professor at the Central University of Venezuela . He has a Masters in Urban Planning and a PhD in Urban Studies .

Political career

In 2009, President Hugo Chávez named Menéndez Minister of Science and Technology.

On January 19, 2010, he was appointed Executive President of the Bolivarian Agency for Space Activities.

On November 26, 2011, the Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez created the Ministry of People's Power in Industry by national decree and appointed Ricardo Menéndez as minister the day before.

On April 21, 2013, he was confirmed as Minister of Industry of the Bolivarian government of Venezuela for the government of Nicolás Maduro. A few months later, they changed positions in the Cabinet of Ministers and were appointed Minister for Higher Education.

On June 17, 2014, President Nicolás Maduro appointed him Minister responsible for the Ministry of Planning.
