Richard Baquié

Richard Baquié (born May 1, 1952 in Marseille ; † January 17, 1996 ) was a French object artist and sculptor .

life and work

Richard Baquié studied with Toni Grand at the École supérieure d'art et de design Marseille-Méditerranée until 1981 .

Baquié is known for “machine sculptures” with light, film, movement and noises, which are composed of found objects from the field of technology.

“Richard Baquié emphasizes that the metaphorical machine, the vehicle, is nothing more than an aid. A tool to move living beings, who can remember, see and wish, from one place to another. [...] The machine is a temptation to go beyond the limits, to cross the law as soon as the opportunity arises . "
