Richard Erik Hill (* 1949 ) is an American astronomer and asteroid explorer.

He started his career as an amateur astronomer and then turned his hobby into a profession. He works for the Catalina Sky Survey and discovered a total of seven asteroids at the Kitt Peak National Observatory in Arizona .

In addition, he discovered 27 comets , 19 periodic and nine non-periodic.

The asteroid (118945) Rikhill was named after him on January 6, 2007.
