Richard Kahn (Company)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Richard Kahn GmbH was a German industrial holding company that had until 1932 inventory and investments held by German industry in several major companies. Richard Kahn GmbH was founded by the industrialist Richard Kahn as an umbrella company for his corporate investments. The holdings of the Kahn Group included, among others, Stock Motorpflug AG , Deutsche Niles-Werke AG , Maschinenfabrik Geislingen (MAG), Riebe-Werk AG , Vereinigte Fabriken C. Maquet AG , Schnellpressenfabrik AG Heidelberg and Rhenania Motor factory that was founded in 1917 by Richard Kahn together with Alfred Eversbusch . There was an interest group agreement between the companies involved in the group, which provided for mutual profit and loss sharing. The parent company Richard Kahn GmbH compensated losses of individual companies with the net profit of the other companies and distributed the possibly remaining amount to all companies according to the amount of their share capital. Due to the unprofitability of some group companies and enormous indebtedness, the entire group structure collapsed in 1932 and Kahn himself was imprisoned after an investigation into him. As early as 1931, however, some of the profitable businesses, including the Schnellpressenfabrik and Niles-Werke, were spun off from the group at the insistence of the banks. These were among the largest creditors and thus secured their own interests, as a considerable part of the company shares had already been pledged to them.
