The Rillenstein von Borchel is a prehistoric Rillenstein and menhir from Borchel , a district of Rotenburg (Wümme) in the district of Rotenburg (Wümme) , Lower Saxony .

location

The stone originally stood on the highest point of a moraine knoll near Borchel. When it was found, numerous smaller stones were also found, which probably belong to a rolling stone pavement. Today it is placed to the left of the entrance to the local history museum in Rotenburg (Wümme) .

description

The stone is plate-shaped, tapers upwards and is rounded at the top. It is made of granite and is 1.07 m high, 0.88 m wide and 0.41 m thick. A slightly curved groove runs from one narrow side over one broad side to the other narrow side. It probably consists of two narrow grooves that merge into one another. The groove has a width of 6 cm and a depth of 4 cm. The other broad side has three parallel grooves. They are each 30 cm long, 2 cm deep and form a band with a total width of 10 cm.
