The ring fountain

The ring fountain in Strzelce Opolskie (Groß Strehlitz) is located in front of the town hall and is a symbol of the city.

The fountain includes a sculpture of a hunter and four frog sculptures. In addition to the large basin, the fountain had four smaller basins on the sides, but these are no longer used as water basins. The hunter figure is supposed to symbolize the origin of the city name, which comes from the word Strzelec (hunter).

The fountain with the bronze monument was designed by Peter Lipp in 1929 on behalf of the Groß Strehlitz magistrate and built by the Gleiwitzer Hüttenamt. The fountain was set up on the (old) ring in front of the entrance area of the town hall.
