Duno is a 10th century rampart castle in Heveadorp in the province of Gelderland in the Netherlands . It was built by Count Wichman of Hamaland . In 970 he gave Duno to the Abbey at Elten . His daughter Adela , who was married to Count Balderik, tried to reverse this donation. In 996 she got back to Duno. In 1018 Adela and Balderik were cast out as rulers and the majority of their property went to the Bishop of Utrecht . A typical tenth century structure, Duno consisted of an oval earth fortification protected on the outside by three rows of wooden stakes.

LFJ Janssen made the first archaeological investigations in 1843, more followed in 1955–1959 by Jacques GN Renaud.
