A channel furnace is an inductively heated furnace that is used to store, keep warm and melt metals as well as a heatable casting device .

Design

The furnace vessel of the channel furnace is unheated, in contrast to the crucible furnace . The heating is done electrically via one or more inductors that are installed in the lower area of ​​the furnace chamber. In some applications, a small crucible inductor is also placed under the unheated vessel.
