Riot Act

The riot act is a law passed in Great Britain in 1714 , according to which an open-air gathering can be declared illegal within an hour and anyone who does not leave the gathering can be sentenced to death. In Great Britain the law was repealed in 1973, in the former colonies it still applies in part, in a slightly modified form, today.

It was last used in the 2005 riots in Belize on January 21.
