Rippolingen is a district of the spa town of Bad Säckingen and is located in forests and meadows on the southern slope of the Black Forest at approx. 500–600 m above sea level. Rippolingen has 832 inhabitants (as of August 2005). On nice days you have a view of the Alps.

history

The place goes back to Alemannic settlement movements from the Rhine valley. It was first mentioned in 1372. From the earliest times it belonged as a property of the Bruderhof to the narrower domain of the monastery in Bad Säckingen , under whose jurisdiction it was also. A Münchhof (i.e. Mönchshof) formed the center of the village. The legend is probably rooted in this fact that two brothers, Rippold and Harpold, founded Rippolingen and the neighboring town of Harpolingen, about a kilometer away.

After the end of the monastery, Rippolingen came under the rule of the Lords of Schönau-Oeschgen , who resided in the Säckingen Castle, then to the Lords of Schönau-Wehr .

By belonging to the Säckinger domain, Rippolingen always remained outside the county of Hauenstein with its self-governing unions .

On April 1, 1972, Rippolingen was incorporated into the city of Säckingen.
