The Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University ( Japanese 立命 館 ア ジ ア 太平洋 大学 Ritsumeikan Ajia Taiheiyō Daigaku ) is a private university in Beppu in the Japanese prefecture of Ōita . It was founded in April 2000 through the collaboration of various public and private interest groups, in particular the Ōita prefecture, the city of Beppu and the educational body Ritsumeikan ( 学校 法人 立命 館 , Gakkō hōjin Ritsumeikan ).

Around 2,900 international students from 97 nations and regions around the world are currently studying there together with around 3,000 Japanese students.

Its sister university is the Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto .

The university consists of a total of 2 colleges, the College of International Management (Asia Pacific Management) and the College of Social Science (Asia Pacific Studies). International students have the opportunity to take courses from both institutions.
