Rittershausen (Gaukönigshofen)
Rittershausen is a district of the municipality of Gaukönigshofen in Bavaria with 295 inhabitants (as of February 2015) and an area of 592 hectares. The first documentary mention comes from 1311.
On May 1, 1978, the previously independent place was incorporated into the community of Gaukönigshofen.
The Franconian Marienweg leads through Rittershausen .
Buildings
- Catholic parish church of St. Matthew with main facade and open stairs, flanked by life-size sandstone figures of Saints Johannes Nepomuk and Kilian .
- Cemetery, walled complex with remains of the former fortifications.
- Wayside shrine from 1590 by Hans Rappold .
