Bolzhausen is part of the municipality of Sonderhofen in the Lower Franconian district of Würzburg .
It is located east of Sonderhofen between Gelchsheim , Hopferstadt and Rittershausen . A small stream named Thierbach flows through Bolzhausen. The Franconian Marienweg leads through the village .
The tower of the church dedicated to St. Andrew was built in the 13th century. In 1614 a new church was built. The nave had to be renewed in 1730 because it was dilapidated. The first pilgrimages to the pilgrimage church, also known as Maria in the green valley , were recorded as early as 1588 .
On May 1, 1978, the previously independent community was incorporated into Sonderhofen.
