Incised drawings are pictorial representations carved into a hard ground, which were carved onto rocks, antlers, bones or mammoth ivory, among other things , especially in prehistoric Europe . Incised drawings in stone are also known as petroglyphs .

From the 12./13. In the 19th century, so-called plaster scratch drawings are known, which were pressed into the damp plaster or stucco and sometimes filled in with material of a different color. From the time of the Middle Ages , architectural drawings have also been preserved in wall masonry, wall plaster or in the stone coverings of floors.
