From the stone house (Hanover)
The sex of those from the stone house (also: Steinhus or de Stenhus ) is one of the oldest patrician families of the city of Hannover .
history
A Johannes de Lapidea domo is already mentioned in the confirmation of the city rights of the city of Hanover on June 26, 1241 . "The family should have owned a stone house as early as the first half of the 13th century, perhaps the oldest in town."
A few years later, "in a coming probably from the 1255 document ," and in a document dated 25 September 1299, a Johannes de lapideo Domo as the "consul" dubs, the former name of a council of the city.
In the 14th century, the names of other family members appear in numerous documents who are mentioned there as citizens (“civis” or “burgensis”) or as councilors.
On March 6, 1323, for example, the city council transferred the right of patronage to a high altar endowed by him in the Nikolaikapelle to Johannes von Steinhaus the Elder ("Johannes de Lapidea Domo senior") . The grave stone of his family arrived later in the Minoritenkloster within the city walls of Hanover (on the site of today's leash castle or of the Parliament of Lower Saxony ) and can be found today in the Holy Cross Church in the Old Town of Hanover.
Coat of arms and seal
The coat of arms or the seal of the family shows the front of a narrow stone house with a stepped gable . A triangular coat of arms standing on the tip with rounded legs and the inscription "CONRADI DE STHEHNHUS + S" is known.
Stenhusenstrasse
Stenhusenstrasse in the Hanover district of Kleefeld , which was laid out in 1929, honors the bourgeois family with its name.
