Riza Halimi ( Cyrillic  Риза Халими , pronunciation ɾiˈza ˈhaliːmi ; born September 16, 1947 in Preševo ) is an Albanian politician in Serbia .

Career

Riza Halimi was initially a physics teacher in secondary school and then became a politician.

He is a member of the Partija za demokratsko delovanje , the political party with the most supporters among the Albanians in Serbia . Halimi was also Mayor of Preševo ​​and was elected to the National Assembly of Serbia by the coalition of Albanians of Preševo ​​Valley in the parliamentary elections in 2007 , 2008 and 2012 . He is the only one who represents the Albanian minority from the south of the country and is officially independent.
