Roadie Rowdy Piper Band

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Roadie Rowdy Piper Band ( RRPB ) was an Austrian-Irish folk band and developed out of two folk groups from the 1980s, the Stadtpfeiffer and Cidre .

Xandi Tichy (Scottish Bagpipes, Accordion, Tinwhistle, Percussion) and Mario Prinz (vocals, guitar) played in both groups and founded the RRPB together with Chris Schöner on a long night in the early 1990s. After Chris Schöner left, Stephan Stoney Steiner took over the fiddle part in 1995 and Brian O'Shea (banjo, mandolin, vocals) from Dublin joined the group in November 1996.

With these personnel changes, the band became more professional. The highlights were appearances as part of the soccer World Cup qualifier between Austria and Scotland in the Vienna Stadium , the Wiener Metropol , the Funkhaus Wien and the Lent Festival in Marburg. After "Stop That" the second CD "Anyway" ( extra plate 343-2) was released in June 1998 .
