Roagaspitz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Roagaspitz is part of the hat decoration of Bavarian costumes, such as the Berchtesgaden and Miesbacher costumes . It is originally the feathers of the Indian darter (lat. Anhinga melanogaster).

Costume

Roagaspitz is worn in full costume and consists of three feathers, these can be attached to the hat together with some (eagle) fuzz. It can signal a mood through the type of attachment. A slight forward inclination of feathers or fluff indicates a “readiness to fight”.

Species protection

Since the Indian darter is rare, real Roagaspitz may no longer be delivered in Germany. Apart from remaining stocks that are equally problematic in terms of species protection, imitations must be used.

Play

"Da Roagaspitz" is the title of a play by Peter Landstorfer that premiered in 1988. The piece is about a fairy tale with a Bavarian flavor; As in comparable fairy tales, the supposedly smallest inheritance is ultimately the best inheritance.
