Roaring Hooves

Roaring Hooves (Mongolian: Туурайн төвөргөөн) is an international music festival in Mongolia with concerts for nomads in the Gobi desert . It is the largest international music festival in Central Asia .

Since 1999, musicians from all over the world have been meeting every year in June to play music with Mongolian musicians in the desert at the festival. The focus is on contemporary music from all over the world and the traditional music of the Mongols. The "Gobi Summer Academy" is part of the festival. Here Mongolian students and musicians have the opportunity to meet artists from all over the world and also to take master classes. Foreign guests can have their first lessons in traditional overtone singing .

This festival is organized by Samdandamba Badamkhorol, director of the New Music Association of Mongolia. Bernhard Wulff is the president and artistic director . The festival has received many awards and is ranked among the 50 most interesting travel destinations in the world by GEO magazine .
