Robert Earl Jackson (* 1949 ) is an American astronomer who, together with Sandra Moore Faber, discovered the Faber-Jackson relation in 1976 . The Faber-Jackson relation is an experimentally observed relationship between luminosity and velocity dispersion in elliptical galaxies .
