history

Robert Fellmann Jodellieder-Verlag was founded in September 1932 by Robert Fellmann. Initially, the composer published his yodel songs himself, until the publisher added yodel songs from other composers to its inventory in the following years. Robert Fellmann was also able to record his successes as a composer in the publishing house - in the first post-war years even with high numbers: in the record year 1946 he sent a total of 12,044 scores of his popular yodelling songs.

Robert Fellmann

Robert Fellmann (1885–1951) is considered the most important yodelling song composer of the 20th century. Growing up in Baar and Uffikon , he began composing yodelling songs in 1920 after training as a wood sculptor. His compositions are still among the most sung Swiss yodelling songs today.

In his songs, Robert Fellmann has combined the written tradition of male choir singing with the orally transmitted yodelling to form a new popular art form. In doing so, he helped the yodelling movement to make its breakthrough in such a lasting way that it is still very active a good hundred years after its creation - and continues to maintain its songs.

In 1969 a memorial fountain for Josef Fellmann was inaugurated in Uffikon and in 1985 a festival was held on his 100th birthday.

Robert Fellmann Foundation

On January 30, 1970, the Robert Fellmann Foundation was established in Baar. It serves the purpose of maintaining, strengthening and promoting the Swiss folk and yodelling song as well as the associated customs of waving flags and blowing the alphorn. In particular, the foundation should manage the existing publishing rights to Robert Fellmann's works (music and theater) and examine and, if necessary, publish unpublished works.

The Robert Fellmann Foundation is the owner of the legacy writings, the manuscripts of music and the personal documents of Robert Fellmann. She should look after the memory of Robert and Marie Fellmann, also through the preservation of their graves in Baar. The foundation is presided over by a board of trustees with five members.
