Robert Hammond (soccer player)

Robert Hammond (* circa 1950 - May 30, 2017 in the United States ) was a Ghanaian football player .

Athletic career

Hammond played in the 1970s for Hearts of Oak SC , with whom he won the Ghanaian championship and the national cup several times. Together with him, Mama Acquah , Anas Seidu , Peter Lamptey and Mohammed Ahmed Polo formed the "Fearsome Five", the club's dangerous goal offensive. Together they also played in the Ghanaian national team at times .

For the finals of the African Cup of National Champions in 1977 and 1979, in which Hearts of Oak SC participated, no list has been handed down and therefore Hammond's possible involvement cannot be proven at the moment.

Robert Hammond died on May 30, 2017 at the age of 67 after a brief illness in the United States, where he had moved with his family after a career.
