biography

Robert J. Blackmore is one of the most important British football pioneers in Mexico. From the founding of the football department at Reforma Athletic Club around 1900 to her sixth and final championship title in 1912, Robert Blackmore was part of its football team and in the early days formed a dangerous assault line with his brother Charles. In the championship years 1909/10 and 1910/11 Blackmore was also team captain at Reforma AC and also won the top scorer's crown in the 1909/10 season.

Since the boundaries between the club teams in the pioneering days of football in Mexico were not as rigid as they are today, it was quite common at the time for players to help out at one or the other club in the national championship, which was held exclusively by British clubs. Because Robert Blackmore knew the football pioneer Percy Clifford from the early days of football at Reforma AC, he occasionally played in the ranks of the British Club , which was newly founded by Clifford, and was ultimately entrusted with the club's chairmanship due to his organizational talent and sporting enthusiasm.

After finishing his active career, Blackmore served as a referee and over the years developed into the best of his craft. Later he was president of the Liga de Fútbol Asociación .
