Robert Rich, 5th Earl of Warwick

Robert Rich, 5th Earl of Warwick , 2nd Earl of Holland (* around 1620 , † April 16, 1675 ) was an English peer and politician.

Life

He was the eldest son of Henry Rich, 1st Earl of Holland , from his marriage to Isabel Cope.

When his father was executed during the English Civil War in 1649, he inherited his nobility titles as 2nd Earl of Holland and 2nd Baron Kensington .

When his cousin Charles Rich, 4th Earl of Warwick died , he inherited his title as 5th Earl of Warwick and 7th Baron Rich in 1673 .

On April 8, 1641 he married Elizabeth Ingram († 1661), sister of Henry Ingram, 1st Viscount of Irvine . With her he had six children who all died before him:

  • Lady Anne Rich († 1663);
  • Henry Rich, Lord Kensington (1642–1659), ⚭ 1659 Christian Riccard (* 1639), widow of John Gayer;
  • Charles Rich (* 1650);
  • Robert Rich (* 1654);
  • Lady Elizabeth Rich (1655-1656);
  • Ingram Rich (* 1656).

In 1668 at the latest he married his second niece, Lady Anne Montagu († 1689), daughter of Edward Montagu, 2nd Earl of Manchester . He had five children with her:

  • Lady Elizabeth Rich († 1725) ⚭ Francis Edwardes of Johnston;
  • Lady Essex Rich († 1680);
  • Lady Frances Rich († 1691);
  • Lady Eleanor Rich († 1699);
  • Edward Rich, 6th Earl of Warwick (1673-1701).

When he himself died in 1675, his youngest and only surviving second marriage son, Edward, inherited his title of nobility.
