Robert Rowling

Robert B. Rowling (* 1953 in Corpus Christi (Texas) , United States ) is the founder of TRT Holdings Inc. The hotel chain Omni Hotels and Gold's Gym are organized under this holding company . The Forbes Magazine Rowling has identified in 2006 as the 42-richest man in America.

Rowling started working for his father's company, Tana Oil and Gas, in 1972. In 1989 he bought Texaco , Tana Oil and Gas of Rowling's father for around 476 million US dollars . He used this money to found TRT Holdings. Five years later he sold TRT Holdings Corpus Christi National Bank for around $ 131 million, then bought Omni Hotels for around $ 500 million in 1996 and Gold's Gym for around $ 154 million in 2004.

Rowling also serves on the board of directors of the University of Texas Systems and was named Bush Pioneer for his contributions to the George W. Bush presidential campaign (2004) .
