Robert Wintgen

Robert Wintgen (born June 13, 1882 in Solingen ; † 1966 ) was a German chemist and university professor specializing in physical chemistry .

life and work

Wintgen studied chemistry at the University of Bonn , where he did his doctorate under Eberhard Rimbach .

He then initially worked for Alfred Stock in Berlin before moving to the University of Göttingen in 1919 . From there he came to the newly founded University of Cologne in 1924 as professor and department head for analytical and physical chemistry . There he was retired in 1950. In the academic years 1926/27 and 1946/47 he was dean of the Philosophical Faculty.

His field of work was colloid chemistry .
