At the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games 2004 in Athens , she was reportedly at the request of President Hamid Karzai flag bearer of their country.

On August 20, 2004, she competed in the 100 m sprint and, as expected, was eliminated in seventh place in the first heat. However, she improved the Afghan national record to 14.14 seconds. In the final score, Muqimyar finished 62nd out of 63 starters.
