from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

RoSta (Robot Standards and Reference Architectures) is a European research project (running from 2007–2009), funded as part of the 6th Framework Program of the European Commission FP 6 . The mission is to be a central point of contact for robot standards and reference architecture in the field of service robotics.

The consortium consists of European research institutions and industrial companies with experts in the field of service robotics, who jointly advance the topic of standardization. The research project is coordinated by the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation (IPA) ; It is managed by GPS GmbH in Stuttgart .

aims

The main goals in RoSta are:

  • Activity plan to define standards
  • Activity plan for a community-driven open source initiative
  • Recognition as an international standardization community

activities

The following four main areas are processed within the project:

  1. Generation of an ontology / nomenclature for "mobile manipulation" and service robots
  2. Creation of a reference architecture for "mobile manipulation" and service robots
  3. Specification of hardware and software for data exchange for "mobile manipulation" and service robots
  4. Formulation of benchmarks for "mobile manipulation" and service robots
