The Rochus Chapel in Brilon , a town in the Hochsauerlandkreis in the east of North Rhine-Westphalia , was built in 1676.

The chapel was built on the basis of a vow of the citizens. Pastor Werner Grönenberg wrote in a letter: "... and although it was driven by severe illnesses attacked at that time." With "illness" was probably meant a wave of plague . The simple, rectangular, plastered quarry stone building was built in the 17th century. The gable roof and the ridge turret are slated. A niche with the figure of St. Roch is set above the entrance , next to it the coats of arms of Brilon and Kurköln , as well as the year 1676. The flat beamed ceiling inside is plastered. The floor consists of an old sandstone paving. The wall templates on the long walls indicate an intended bulge . The altarpiece is a carpentry work from the 17th century, the oil painting it contains shows the Annunciation . The figures standing on the side date from the 20th century.

Due to a very bad condition in need of restoration , an interest group for the preservation of the chapel was formed within the provost church community in 2012 . The first structural measures were carried out in the same year. During 2014 investigations of the LWL monument preservation, landscape and building culture in Westphalia , the original wall painting was discovered under the plaster of the interior. The restoration work was carried out in 2015/2016. The restoration of the altar, which was built between 1630 and 1640 and was relocated before the extensive repairs to the chapel, is still pending.

At the end of the restoration phase in July 2016, the building was named Monument of the Month in Westphalia-Lippe .
