history
The original building was built in 1583 by a builder from Holland not far from the Flensburg Thingplatz . The gnome cellar is one of the remains of the house from the solid architecture of the 16th century. Two free-standing pillars and several wall brackets support the magnificent Gothic vaults . The space is architecturally structured by cross , longitudinal and diagonal straps with caps in between. Over the centuries, the rooms were used as a wine cellar and storage room as well as a wine bar , while the rooms were given the name Gnomenkeller . A breakthrough to the neighboring house was created in 1876, the newly created room was named Tugendrose . In 1906 the new council chamber was decorated with the coat of arms of Schleswig-Holstein cities. The painting of the rooms comes from the drawing teacher Schurig, a regular guest of the cellar. You can see bizarre paintings with titles such as Lippe Dickmund , Krischan Dösig , Urban Brummkreisel and Baron von Schaf .
