Roeleman from Bylandt-Halt-Spaldorf

Roeleman von Bylandt (* around 1508, † around 1558) was lord of Halt and Spaldorf, Drost zu Ravenstein and ducal-Klevian councilor . He belonged to the Bylandt-Halt-Spaldorf line of the Lower Rhine noble Bylandt family .

He was the son of Johann von Bylandt and Johanna von Bentheim . As a feudal lord of the Duke of Kleve, Johann was lord of Halt and Spaldorf, two no longer existing places northwest of the city of Kleve . After his death, Roeleman's older brother Heinrich was enfeoffed with the lordship, after his childless death on December 16, 1534, Roeleman finally received the lordship.

In addition, Roeleman Drost von Ravenstein and counselor to the Duke of Kleve.

Marriage and offspring

On June 3, 1524 he married Barbara von Viermund († 1565), daughter of Ambrosius von Viermund , Lord von Neersen, Vogt von Anrath and Uerdingen. His wife's sister, Anna von Viermund, married his cousin Adrian von Bylandt (* 1503; † 1549), Herr von Rheydt, Drost zu Heinsberg. With Barbara he had five children:

  • Agnes († May 2, 1615), ∞ Wilhelm von Bronckhorst-Gronsfeld († March 31, 1563), Baron of Gronsfeld and Rimburg, Lord of the Alps
