Roger, 3rd Earl of Buchan

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Roger (* / † unknown), 3rd Earl of Buchan , was a Scottish nobleman .

Life

Only one detail is known about his life: on a deed of donation to the monks of the abbey of Moneymusk, which is dated to the time around 1180, he signed with full name and title in front of witnesses. With this signature, his parents Colbán and Éva and his grandfather Gartnait were clearly stated as part of his salutation (and possibly also as legitimation) .

Due to the existence of a single document, it is assumed that he did not have the title for long. Nor can it be proven whether his successor Fergus was a biological son or was awarded the title because of other merits or a right from a different descent.
