Roger Berbig

Roger Berbig (born November 6, 1954 in Zurich ) is a former Swiss football player . He was four times Swiss football champion, one cup winner and reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup in the 1977/78 season .

The long-time goalkeeper of the Grasshopper Club Zurich made his debut in the NLA on April 15, 1972. Under coach Helmuth Johannsen , he secured the regular place at the record champions and in 1978 became Swiss champions for the first time. Berbig was the captain of the team that secured the title hat trick with the Grasshopper Club under three different coaches from 1982 to 1984 and won the Swiss Cup with GC in 1983.

After this success, Berbig ended his career for professional reasons and became a doctor. The 18-time national team goalkeeper joined the city of Zurich as a C-Junior and has always remained loyal to his club.

Roger Berbig returned to the Grasshopper Club as president of the football section for the 2007/08 season, at a time when the club was going through organizational and financial turmoil. Berbig, who continues to work as a doctor, resigned in February 2010 due to the time burden.
