Pipeline transportation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Under Pipeline transportation as a special form of line traffic means the transport of liquids and gases ( gas transport ) and liquid-gas, liquid-solid and gas-solid mixtures by pipelines ( pipelines ). This is a particularly highly specialized form of a mode of transport , whereby special procedures and systems (means of transport ) are used to implement the transport process .

Examples: Transport of crude oil and natural gas, water transport (also for the purpose of transferring thermal energy), coal dust transport, etc. Ä.

In principle, pneumatic post could also be counted as part of pipeline transport - as a special form of solid-gas transport (capsule and air). However, the size of the capsules is limited for fluid and aerodynamic reasons, so that larger pipe transport systems (e.g. CargoCap project , University of Bochum) lose the properties characteristic of pipeline transport and are more likely to be "tunnel-only systems" (z. B. subways ) should be referred.
