Line traffic

Line traffic is the transport of goods and messages through or by means of lines .

Lines are included:

  • materially sealing pipes or channels that are used to transport gaseous, liquid or solid, but liquefied goods, also as mixtures or solutions ( pipeline transport ),
  • electrically conductive, mostly multi-pole and differently insulated cables for the transport of electrical energy and / and information ( telecommunications ),
  • electrical conductors in a special geometric arrangement, such as waveguides , coaxial lines , trap lines or Lecher lines for conducting high-frequency electrical currents and fields or
  • Fiber optic cables and other light guides for conducting light, interpretable as electromagnetic waves or particles, for the purpose of transmitting energy and / or information.

Rail transport via hanging rails , cable cars , conveyor belts and scoop chains are not included.
