Pipe haulers

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A barrel hauler is a component of the upper mount of guns with a barrel return .

The use of springs is referred to as a hydromechanical system , and when gas pressure is used, a hydropneumatic system is used. The pipe retriever in the pipe cradle is used to bring the pipe back into its starting position after the pipe return, which is dampened and limited by the pipe brake , has ended.

For this purpose, in hydromechanical systems, a spring is tensioned by the recoil during the return of the pipe , which relaxes at the end of the return and pushes the pipe forward.

In hydropneumatic systems, the pipe brake and retainer are connected to one another: When the pipe returns, the brake piston of the pipe brake presses brake fluid into the pipe retainer, in which nitrogen gas is compressed behind a piston. The subsequent expansion of the gas causes the pipe to be returned to its starting position.
