Roland Matthies (* 1962 in Luxemburg ) is a Luxemburgish actor.

Life

Matthies grew up in Brussels and in Boston / USA. Matthies studied acting at the École de Mime Corporel Etienne Decroux and at the École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris. In 1991 the wort + tat theater was founded. 1997 three months at the Théâtre du Soleil with Ariane Mnouchkine. He worked u. a. with Christoph Schlingensief (Chance 2000) and Yoshi Oida ( sacrifice after Andrei Tarkowski). Projects (including): gaspard de la nuit, the Golden Pot, Le Voyage n'est pas fini, Vivre Debout, The Crystal Ball, Refugee Talks, Family Schroffenstein (with director Kay Neumann). Regular projects with students, e.g. B. at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, the Theater Academy Hamburg and in the master’s course in Performance Studies at the University of Hamburg on kampnagel. In August 2014 he was a scholarship holder of the Ingmar-Bergman-Estate Foundation on Fårö, Sweden.

Since the winter semester 2000, Matthies has held a professorship for speaking at the University of Music and Theater in Hamburg. Since 2012 he has also been teaching at the Master’s course in Performance Studies at the University of Hamburg and since 2014 at the Institute for Music at the University of Osnabrück.
