Ronobach

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ronobach (also Rimbach , Rönbach ) is a deserted area in the district of Sommerach in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen .

Geographical location

The literature disagrees on the location of Ronobach. In the overview of Först and Schergs from 1902, Ronobach was moved to the path between Nordheim am Main and Sommerach, while the more recent article by Schuh speaks of a place "just west of Sommerach". Only a well is secured at the site of the former village, a stream is said to have run here and a mill on the Main was operated. The identification of the settlement is also made more difficult by the Main Canal , which flows along there. The lost Rimbacher Tor in the northwest of Sommerach was named after the place.

history

The document of 906

The ending -bach refers to a settlement during the Carolingian expansion phase in the 8th and 9th centuries. It is controversial whether Ronobach is meant by the "ronopahc" mentioned in a document from the year 906. This is important because the still existing town of Rimbach near Volkach also refers to the designation "ronopahc" in the diploma of 906. Schuh argues that "ronopahc" must refer to the Ronobach desert.

Ronobach, now known as Rönbach, was given to the Münsterschwarzach monastery in 1295 by Count Heinrich II zu Castell . It can be assumed that the abbey ruled over the residents until the 17th century. During the Thirty Years War the village was conquered by the Swedes and completely destroyed. There was no resettlement after the war. In the 19th century, farmers in Sommerach discovered vaulted cellars.
