Rookworst ( Dutch for smoked sausage ) is a smoked ringwurst from the Netherlands . They are available in two versions: coarse and fine rookworst. It is an integral part of Dutch cuisine , especially in winter, and is mainly used in stews such as stamp pots . The sausage is not fried , but heated in boiling water (below the boiling point ).
